About Us

My Left Foot was born from a lifelong dream, to go into business with my father, and a shared  passion, shoes that feel good.    My father bought his first pair of Clarks in the early 1960s when no one had heard of this new British shoe company. Following his lead, I bought my first pair of Walabees my junior year in high school. 

Over the next several years I shopped for a variety of comfortable shoes and found myself in running shoes whenever possible. Running shoes were ok for going to class but once I graduated, I needed "real" shoes. I set out to find fashionable shoes for a professional environment that were also comfortable.  Turns out, the fashionable and professional part was easy but the comfort aspect never  made it past the first wearing. I had a whole closet full of shoes but could not walk more than a couple blocks in any one pair.  In the summer I traveled with a pair of flip flops in my bag and in the winter running shoes.

Carrying around a second pair of shoes was not for me, I like to travel light and leave room for new purchases.  About this time I started working for the Herrington Catalog as their foot wear buyer and found that some of the best footwear companies were taking shoes designed exclusively for comfort and infusing them with style and excitement.  How could I resist telling everyone I know and then a bunch of people I don’t know what they’ve been missing….
